Vinyl Record Paintings
Bride awakens on vinyl. Its a record I did for the spun show at fifth street gallery. I spent probably way too much time on the detail of this piece. but im rather obsessed with that. So here it is in all its small brushed glory.
And here is “Order ruins my Chaos” This is my tattoo inspired piece which feature ambigrams that read order ruins my chaos no matter which way you look at it. its a little hard to read (and Paint) but i still like the over all feel of the piece and am really liking this painting thing more and more.
First Custom Dunny – Hellcop Lives!
Well here it is… my first painted dunny. It was definitely a learning process. I’ve never really painted anything at 3 inches tall and certainly never a toy.
I went through a bunch of issues. I read up a lot on the forums about customizing but still it was a learning process. To start off the head broke off the first dunny i tried. I tried decals that you rub on. They don’t appear well on black. I tried sticker printer paper… the black ‘ come out dark enough and the paper would wrinkle all over the place no matter how much i tried to finesse it and it didn’t really stick well anyway. Then one of my brushes fell apart mid paint. Every brush i tried seemed too thick until the last one i tried which didn’t look like it would be thin at all. Apparently you want thick base thin tip when doing tiny tiny details… not tiny little brush all together. After that I used some sharpie paint to help with the detail. looked great until i tried a spray varnish which made it bleed all over the rest of the paint job. But finally after all that I got him done.
I’m pretty pleased although i wish the paint job was smoother and more production like. Also I suck at taking photos… and the lighting in this room sucks but its the only place i ve got right now. Ces’t la vie… I still love the little bugger and am excited to have him in my little collection.

Bride Paint test
Wanted to try my hand at some fast painting. I spen about 2 hours on this. I’m pretty happy with the turnout…although i think next time I think id benefit at having a model or photo reference. Eh still dig the feeling of it and am proud of the result for so little time.
